  1. I really enjoyed reading your prominent research paper about Michael Pressley. His research has informed me of different comprehension strategies that I could use in my classroom. I agree with his research method of researching effective teachers in order to see what methods are successful and which ones are not. I also agree with his point about "Excellent elementary instruction balances skills." In order to be successful later in a life, a student must grasp the basic skills first. I love the idea of recording the students while they read. That is a good strategy because the students would be able to catch the strategies that they need to work on. Also, that strategy would help with fluency. Although I didn't have any disagreements, I do believe that after a student has mastered comprehension strategies, then they could complete partner, group, or independent activities to enhance their learning. It could be student-led and not always teacher-led.

  2. I enjoyed reading your paper about Michael Pressley. I totally agree with the fact that when we are teaching reading we need to use a balanced approach. I also like the idea of recording students when they read. I think that it is important for them to be aware of how they sound when they are reading.

  3. I enjoyed reading your paper on Michael Pressley. I agree with many of his beliefs. I am a firm believer in small group and one on one instruction. I was so interested in students recording themselves while they read and they watch it back. I am DEFINITELY going to try this next year and see the impacts it makes. When I read his quote about excellent literacy teacher doing "it all" I realized that it takes much more than some do! We have to do so much more than teach the curriculum. Overall, I loved reading your paper and thought you did a great job!
